Shows Continue to Validate Stonyridge Breeding Program
There are some times on life''s journey that everything is going right. The May 13-15 Level V AWE show proved to be one of those events.
Steele Magnolia set the tone in our first class with a 1st place and Color Champion out of a field of 18 grey females.Capella and Eclipse, our Rockford kids, were 1st & 2nd respectively in their juvenile true black classes; Capella out of a class of 13, and Eclipse in a class of 8. Goldkist took the blue in her medium fawn class of 6. Our medium brown boys Chianti, co-owned with Pete and Kelly Campa, and Neruda''s Gatsby were 3rd and 4th in their large class of 13.
Luckily all of our classes were completed on Friday because Saturday dawned with Silver Mist in labor. Wayne stayed on cria watch while I handled photos at the show. The ultimate end to a perfect show weekend was coming home to the jet black female cria that Mist presented us with. She is the first of our anticipated Compadre babies, and we named her Ishtar.
The July Alpaca Affaire composite show proved another successful event for the Stonyridge show string. Capella was 1st in both conformation and fleece in her class of 8, and was held in the championship class for the judge to acknowledge her tie score for Reserve Champion. Not bad for one of the youngest females in a field of 16 black and brown girls.
Eclipse was first in both conformation and fleece in his juvenile class, and our brown duo Chianti and Gatsby were 1st and 2nd respectively out of 9 males. It is wonderful to see the results of our breeding program validated.
After Hours Joins Stonyridge Breeding Program
Perfect Phenotype and Classic Pedigree
We are thrilled to announce the arrival of our new young herdsire, Xanadu After Hours, co-owned with our good friends at Peaceful Valley Alpacas, Barbara and Jeffrey Skolnick.
We''ve had our eyes on this young male since we first saw him at four months old. Great animals often stand out from the start, and he certainly captured our attention. After Hours is exactly the combination of phenotype and pedigree that we were looking for in a stud male. He is the first son of the much decorated Presidio son, Xanadu ''Round Midnight, and an exceptional silver grey import, Aysen Concepcion who still maintained a 19 micron fleece at five years old.
After Hours juvenile show record was enviable with 3 times 1st Place and Reserve Champion, 1st Place at 2005 GWAS, 2nd Place at AAA Futurity, and 2nd Place at 2005 AOBA Nationals. He is a stunning boy with an amazing temperament. He brings a complete package of conformation, fleece quality, and genetic diversity to Northwest breeders interested in an elite black herdsire. The finest things in life happen After Hours, and the best is yet to come. Watch for his breeding schedule in 2006.
